William P. Landry
He was born on June 29, 1930, in Quebec, Canada, and raised on the Landry family farm in New Canada, Maine, by Alphonse and Evelyn (Bouchard) Landry. Bill always spoke of his home and farm animals with great fondness.
William was a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was married to Priscilla (Saucier) from Plaisted, Maine, in 1951.
Hired by the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad in 1953, he began work as a Station Agent in Soldier Pond, Maine. Throughout a 40-year career with the B & A, he relieved agents from Madawaska, Maine, to Searsport, Maine. After retirement in 1993, Bill and his wife lived in the Bangor area, eventually settling in Palmyra, Maine.
Bill was known and loved by many for his music ministry with Priscilla. He played guitar, harmonica, and sang in many area churches of central Maine. It was very natural for them to share their love for Jesus in French song as well as English.
William was loved and will be greatly missed by those he is survived by, including his wife of 67 years, Priscilla (Saucier) Landry; four daughters and four sons, Dolores Griffin and her husband, Bruce, Karl Landry, Gail Landry, Debra Legassie and her husband, Randy, Patricia Landry, Billy Landry Jr., Kevin Landry, and John Landry; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as several dear nieces and a nephew.
Apart from his love of music, Bill found great joy in planting, nurturing and watching various flowers blooming around his homes, throughout his life.
William's family wishes to extend grateful thanks to the staff of EMMC, Penobscot Valley Regional Hospital and most recently Stillwater Health Care and Hospice of Eastern Maine, for the care, love and compassion they showed him during his illness.
A celebration of life and graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Kenduskeag Village Cemetery, Levant Road, Kenduskeag, Maine.
