Belfast, Maine - Wilbur Edgar Baird Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, at the age of 91, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 29, 1933, in Searsmont, Maine, he was the son of Wilbur and Jesse Baird, and one of eight siblings.

Wil graduated from high school in Camden, Maine, where he met the love of his life, Evelyn Lunt. Together, they built a beautiful life, first moving to Connecticut, where Wil pursued his education at the University of Hartford. His careers included working at the First National Stores, and worked diligently as a district manager for Texaco.

Wil and Evelyn raised their four cherished children, Christine Baird, Wilbur Baird Jr., Sandra Rideout, and Wayne Baird, spending 17 wonderful years in Connecticut before returning to their roots in Maine. In Maine they owned and managed the Dairy Queens at the Bangor Mall and Broadway DQ, where they created lasting memories with their family and community.

A true family man, Wil's greatest joy was his family, which includes nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Wil and Evelyn loved to host Thanksgiving dinners, embracing the delightful chaos that came with gathering their loved ones.

Wil and Evelyn shared a profound love for the ocean, living in several coastal towns, including Deer Isle, Camden, and Belfast. Wil and Evelyn found joy sailing countless hours on the water with friends and family. Wil was also a talented craftsman who enjoyed spending time in his workshop, creating beautiful hand-carved wooden bird sculptures.

During the winters, they sought warmth and friendship in Florida, where they formed many treasured bonds with those they met.

Wil is survived by his daughters, Christine and Sandra. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Evelyn Baird; his sons, Wilbur Jr. and Wayne; as well as his granddaughter, Tarsha; and grandson, Wilbur Baird III.

Wil's spirit and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. A service to celebrate Wilburs life will be held at later place and time.
