Colfax, WI, Wisconsin - Our beloved father and grandfather, Wendell P. Dickinson, passed away on June 3, 2025, at his home in Colfax, Wisconsin, after a long life. He was born on January 12, 1928, to the late John and Verna (Langley) Dickinson in Washburn, Maine.
He was educated in Perham and Washburn (Maine) schools, served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948 in Germany during the reconstruction period after World War II, and returned home to be married to Betty (Helstrom) Dickinson for 63 years until her passing in 2012. Wendell and Betty lived in Colby Siding, Maine, where they raised their three daughters and relocated to Massachusetts in 1975 Dad made the decision to venture west to live in Wisconsin in 2021.
We will miss this generous, hardworking, patient gentleman who taught us lessons by example as we witnessed his grit, and ability to adjust to the changes in his life. He was quick of mind and wit; was gifted with an excellent memory, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He cherished days spent with family and friends, enjoying nature, counting deer and watching lake life. He was very proud of and grateful for his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Jean Jacobs and her husband, Greg, of Colfax, Wisconsin, Luanna Guerrette and her husband, Gary, of Easton, Maine, and Penny O'Sullivan of Ludlow, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Kristi (Chad) Bartlett, Jon (Sheila) Jacobs, Curt (Kristin) Guerrette, Wendy (Jay) Dunham, Ryan (Jackie) O'Sullivan, Corey O'Sullivan and his fiancee, Katelyn Warner; his great-grandchildren, Katherine (Jonah) Breneman, Sarah (Samuel) Grove, Nicholas Jacobs, Sheridan, Jack and Sophie Guerrette, Sydney (Hunter) Witt, Jamie and Zach Dunham, Lyla, Brenna, Maddie, Hudson and Hallie O'Sullivan, and Emerson and Rhett Warner; and his three great-great-grandchildren, Margot Breneman, Aiden Grove, and Asher Pedersen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to his wife, Betty, and his parents, he was predeceased by his five siblings; and his son-in-law, Raymond Haluch.
A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Perham, Maine, at 11 a.m. on July 29, 2025. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.
