Yarmouth and Fort Kent - Wallie Joseph Jandreau ("Tsi Be"), 81, a curious man and inventor throughout his life, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Maine Medical Center with family by his side. He was born in St. Francis, Maine, on April 25, 1936 to Maxime and Yvonne (Michaud) Jandreau. He grew up there with his parents and five siblings, and in 1955 began his first job as a woods clerk which later led to a 28-year career working for Pinkham Lumber in clerking and safety. Over the years, he also worked for accounting firms and as a sole practitioner, doing bookkeeping, accounting, and taxes. He served in the U.S. Army, with a short stint in Germany which he fondly recalled.
On July 7, 1962, Wallie married Rachel Long of Clair, New Brunswick, and they spent their married lives of over 50 years in Fort Kent, Maine. He was a loving father and caregiver for Rachel.
Wallie was a hard worker and loved to learn and self-teach. He spent countless hours on his woodlot, affectionately named Lot '76, developing roads and several ponds, harvesting Christmas trees, reforesting, and enjoying their camp on the property with family and friends. He had a passion for fishing and history, WWII in particular.
Wallie was an inventor, whether it was tools, "flying machines" such as gliders and gyroplanes, or software programs. He was always looking to make a task easier or more streamlined, and was never bashful to call a company directly to either compliment their product or offer improvements. In his later life, he developed a deep interest in cooking, tweaking recipes to perfection. And we can't forget his love of beer, from making home brew in his early adult days, mastering his craft, to more recently his deep appreciation for a glass of Funky Bow G-String at BEER:30 sharp, and more importantly his great sense of humor, teasing and quick wit.
He is survived by his children Joey Jandreau (Elaine) and Connie Ouellette (Mark); grandson Jacob Jandreau; brother Clayton Jandreau and sister Diane Michaud. He was predeceased by his wife, sisters Gloria and Joyce Ouellette, and brother Warren Jandreau.
The family wishes to thank those that have been instrumental in Wallie's care in recent years, in particular Dr. Harris and Maine Veterans Homes Scarborough for helping him persevere.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, Maine, at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017. Friends may call Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 8 to 9:45 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
Those who wish in Wallie's memory may donate to the Maine Veteran's Homes, Central Office, 460 Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME 04330.
