Orono - 1946 - 2020
Suzanne Proctor, 73, died peacefully on January 9, 2020 in Orono, Maine. Sue was born June 8, 1946 in Waterville, Maine, daughter of the late Frederick and Glenys (Price) Proctor.
Sue Suffered a tragic accident at the age of 4, resulting in grave injuries and permanent disability. Despite these challenges, she led a full and productive life, graduating from Cranston West High School in Cranston, RI and attending Johnson and Wales University in Providence. Sue worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for the state of Rhode Island, retiring in 2010, after 42 years of dedicated service.
Following her mother's death, Sue relocated to Ellsworth to reside with her brother Fred and his wife Carole. Fred faithfully fulfilled a promise to his parents that he would look after his sister following their death. Fred and Carole provided compassionate, dedicated care and companionship to Sue for over 8 years. During this time, Sue also spent cherished time with her nieces and nephews. Sue spent the last two years of her life at Dirigo Pines in Orono.
Sue was known for her quick wit, kindness and generosity. She loved music and enjoyed singing and playing the organ and ukulele. Sue's family members have wonderful memories of Sue sharing her music at family reunions and get togethers over the years. She supported numerous charities, her favorite being St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Sue will be dearly missed by many friends and family members. She is survived by brothers Fred and wife Carole and John and wife Betty; nieces and nephews Rick (Karen), Karen (Bill), Kristin (Paul), John (Heather), and Jeffrey; great nieces and nephews Matthew, Ryan, Casey, Courtney, Andrew, Haleigh, Cameron, Caroline, Laura, Elizabeth, Katherine and Kevin; special cousins Paul and wife Lorraine and Leroy and wife Linda.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Sue's life in the spring.
