Orono, Maine - Stephen "Steve" Joseph Ouellette, 68, died peacefully on December 19, 2025. He was born January 11, 1957, in Old Town, a son of Alfred Ouellette and Hilda (England) Ouellette.

Steve attended Old Town High School as part of the class of 1975. He is a Navy Veteran and was stationed at Sigonella Naval Air Station, Sicily, Italy. After returning home, he worked at several locations and ultimately retired from the University of Maine at Orono. In his younger years, Steve was a little league coach. He was known for his love of family, music and singing and was an avid fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. Steve was always ready with a joke, followed by a sly grin and huge laugh.

Steve is survived by his son, Cory and wife, Jessica, and their boys, Timothy and Jack; his daughter, Erin; three brothers, Glenn Ouellette and his wife, Sandi, Timothy Ouellette and his fiancée, Wanda Hoskins, and Greg Ouellette and his wife, Candace; and two sisters, Debra Smith and her husband, Bernard, and Tina Ouellette; extended family and many friends. Also surviving Steve are his very best friend, Annette Detour and her grandchildren, Spencer and Jayden. He was predeceased by his parents.

At Steve's request, there will be no funeral services. A private graveside ceremony will be held in the spring.
