Hermon, Maine - Stephanie A. (Burdwood) Armstrong passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024, at her home in Hermon, Maine, surrounded by family, following a battle with cancer. She was born November 9, 1951, in Portland, ME, daughter to Donald and Mary Burdwood and sister to Donald "Bub" Burdwood Jr.
Stephanie was raised in Portland, received her high school diploma from Deering Academy and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, as part of the class of 1974, with a BA in French Studies.
Stephanie met her future-husband, best friend and soul mate, Mark Armstrong, in Portland, in 1982 and they would marry in South Portland in 1985. Stephanie was a beloved mother to two children, Michael and Jill, and their family of four would eventually settle down in Hermon, in 1994. Stephanie worked as Senior Vice President of People's Heritage Bank (later, TD Bank) until her much-deserved retirement in 2016. From 2019 onward, Stephanie would become "Nana" to three grandchildren, Lilliana, Addison and Griffin, and loved spending time with (and spoiling) them whenever possible.
Stephanie enjoyed gardening, cooking delicious meals and entertaining family at her home, planning exciting vacations and traveling the world with her husband and family. Stephanie was predeceased by her father, Donald Sr.; and is survived by her mother, Mary, brother, Donald Jr., husband, Mark; and her two children, Michael and Jill. Stephanie had a profound impact on the lives of her friends and family and her passing leaves a large hole in the hearts of so many around her.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a Funeral Liturgy outside of Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
