He was born in Mattawamkeag, Maine, December 22, 1940, the son of Clifford Carl and Dorothy Ireland Davis. He graduated from Mattawamkeag High School in 1959, and moved to Bath August of 1959, where he completed a 4 year apprenticeship in Outside Machinery at Bath Iron Works. He then transferred to the Engineering Department, retiring in May, 2006 after 47 years of service. On October 5, 1963 he married Carla Berry from Gorham, Maine. They have resided in Woolwich since that time. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking and traveling. His favorite place to be was at his camp on Silver Lake in Lee, Maine, surrounded by family and friends. He and his wife enjoyed trips to Salt Lake City, Branson, Mo, Costa Rica, Florida and a cruise and tour of Alaska. He enjoyed puttering around his home and camp and always had a project to do. He took his children camping and hiking and instilled the love of outdoors in them. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved them very much. He was a member of Woolwich Fish Commission serving several years as chairman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bath. For the past several years, he has participated in the annual Audubon Loon count on Silver Lake.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Sally, stepmother Mattie, stepbrother, Gary and stepsister Gloria.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years; a son, Jeffrey (Lynn) Davis of Dresden; a daughter, Melanie (Russell) Parkman of Franklin, Ma; four grandchildren, Adeline Davis, Elias Davis, Bryce Parkman and Carson Parkman; a sister, Donna of Millinocket and several special cousins, nieces and nephews; brothers and sister-in-law Terrance and Martha Berry Towle of Gorham and foster and Cynthia Berry Leavitt of Saco.
His family would like to thank Dr. Carl DeMars, and the staffs at Parkview Hospital and Bodwell CHANS Hospice for loving, compassionate care during his illness.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 1:00pm at the United Methodist Church, 340 Oak Grove Ave, Bath, Maine.
