Shirley "Goodie" (Goodwin) Donovan Obituary

Somerville, MA, Massachusetts - Shirley Goodwin Donovan was born in Millinocket, ME, the loving daughter of Ronald Goodwin and Cora Bouchard Goodwin. She passed away June 17, 2025.

She graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1954. She continued her education at the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing, where she continued to work as an RN for 41 years, along with East Somerville Clinic.

Her summer vacations were spent in Millinocket at Lake Ambejejus with her children and grandchildren. She always called it "home."

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Oliverio and Patricia Lapolla. She leaves her adored grandchildren, Ronald Abbott, Melissa Abbott, Amanda Oliverio, Michelle Oliverio, Mikaela Oliverio, Alexis Lapolla, and Ryan Lapolla; and great-granddaughter, Brea Robinson. She is survived by her sister, Sarah Goodwin; and brother-in-law, Ross Thompson. She also leaves her beloved nephews, John Brunette, Ronald Brunette, Adam Thompson and their families whom she loved; a special cousin, Sharon Hallett; and many dear friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Walter; beloved sister, Mary Thompson; nephew, Andrew Thompson; and stepmother, Nina Mott Blakely Goodwin.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the A.L.S. Association. A viewing (wake) will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on June 23, 2025, at Doherty's Funeral Home, 855 Broadway, Somerville, MA.
