Bangor, Maine - Sharon embraced many roles during her lifetime - as a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and a dear friend to countless others. Yet those who truly knew her also witnessed the vibrant, untamed spirit that defined her.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, to her devoted parents, Dale and Joyce Burchfield, she carried the pride of being a true Texan throughout her life. Her journey eventually led her, alongside her wife, Karen Junkins and family, to Maine, where she made her home for the last three decades. On April 8, 2025, at the age of 62, Sharon left us suddenly, leaving behind a legacy marked by both struggles and triumphs - each met with her ever-present sense of humor.

She leaves behind her son, Matthew Pennington; her daughter, Kelly Black, her brother, Mitchell Burchfield; her sister, Julie Hale; as well as cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

As we continue to share our stories, let us remember that Sharon would want us all to know she is finally at peace, free from pain and loss, and beautifully at home. In honor of her memory, donations may be made to the Bangor Area Recovery Network (BARN).
