Wilson, North Carolina - Sandra Lorraine Cayford, age 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at her home in Wilson, NC. Though she is gone from this world, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Sandra was born in Ellsworth, ME, on September 18, 1937, to the late Edward S. and Dorothy M. (Coombs) Farrell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Brown; and her brother, Lee Edward Farrell. Sandra leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Katharine Frizzle, Theresa Cunningham, Valerie Carlson, and Desiree Carlson; sister, Patricia Clark; sister-cousin, Marion Tozier; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Sandra will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her generous heart, and the peace and joy she brought to those around her. Sandra left a legacy of Christian love and kindness for everyone she met. Sandra served as an Elder at the Frank Price Memorial Presbyterian Church in Wilson, NC, for many years. Sandra found joy in her family, church, Bible study, meeting new friends, crafting, attending the theater, and traveling. Sandra retired from the University of Maine after 35 years of dedicated service. Sandra was also a graduate of the University of Maine, Orono, and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she earned a "Sister of the Year" award.

A memorial service for Sandra is planned at Second Congregational Church located at 607 South Main St., Brewer, ME 04412 on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. The memorial service will be led by Pastor Steve Estey with a reception immediately following the memorial service.
