After graduating from Bridgewater Classical Academy in 1957 she attended beauty school and then worked for Mrs. Watson at Ethel's Beauty in 1963 until she bought it in 1966. Ruth enjoyed having us ride the elevator to the 2nd floor of the Trust Building to visit her and get a haircut, whether we needed or not. Ruth retired in March 2006 and enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, Chinese Checkers, snowmobiling, knitting and crocheting. Ruth enjoyed spending time with all her nieces and nephews, especially Wanda and her family.

She is survived by two brothers, Glen and Paul of Monticello, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, six sisters, Reta Rafford, Doris Foster, Della Mills, Lorraine Wilson, Autice Socoby, Janette Swallow and eight brothers, Lawrence, Lee, Bernard, Fred, Vaughn, Garth, Robert and Dale.

The family would like to thank Ann Joy who managed Ruth's care.

I will never forget the times I spent with Ruthie at Ethels Beauty Shop. She had a beautiful smile, was fun to be around, and her door was always open. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family, especially Wanda, during this time. Rest easy Ruthie

Ruthie was a large influence in my life. She was the fastest pin curler in the world I think... just to watch her do hair was an event I enjoyed at Ethel's Beauty Shop. She has been missed by all her loyal customers since 2006. Rest easy Ruthie.. Love you

Sincere sympathy to all of you, as you grieve Ruth’s death. I remember our chats as she did my hair when I was a Ricker College student. Special cousin.
