I was lucky enough to first meet Russell in 1976 when I was 16 years old. He impressed me as a man who knew who he was and what was important in life. He cared about doing things correctly and he cared about people, especially his family. His strength came from his deep understanding of the human experience. His intelligence, warm compassion, and great wit made him someone I greatly admired. The loss of Russell feels like a blow to humanity. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

My sincere condolences to you all in the Smith family. My father, Burns Rockwell, shared many great stories about Mr. Smith, from when they were both teens, and told of some great times they had together.

Prayers offered up for your family and may God bless you all.

Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Russell was a big part of our lives and our children’s lives. We enjoyed many years in the pool that he helped us build with his equipment, our boys learned their love of animals helping him take care of Chubba in his last years of life. He will be sorely missed. All of our love and prayers.

What a dear man Russell was. Always a hello & a smile when you dropped in, no matter how far in-between visits. Russell & Judy were like another set of parents to me & my siblings. Growing up in Etna, that was the way it was. Rest in peace dear Russell. You will be sorely missed.

May years of great memories serve to sustain all who mourn Russ Smith's passing. As a coworker, and mentor during the formative years of my career Russell guided me in the proper way to perform our jobs. I will always remember the many things this man has taught me thru our years at A.J.Cole and will forever be proud to call him a real friend. Rest in peace old friend!

Harvey, to you and your family all of our thoughts and prays this poem is for you my friend.
DAD
As we look back over time
We find ourselves wondering …..
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us …..
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgment,
Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
And for the simple things
Like laughter, smiles and times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enoug
...h for all the things you did,
We’re thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant to us.are with you my friend.
