Dixmont, Maine - Roger A. Lawler, 77, died peacefully at home in Dixmont, on March 4, 2025, as the result of complications of Alzheimer's and cancer. He was born on May 4, 1947, in Hartland, Maine, the son of Winnifred Helene (Poole) and Norman D. Lawler Sr.

Roger, one of a family of eight children, grew up in Palmyra, Brownville, and Dixmont, where he attended the local schools. In 1968, he married his first wife, Lorna Guptill, and they had one child, Lori. In 1971, he married Kathy Jenness and they had three sons, Mark, Ricky, and Jason, before their marriage ended in 1986. He spent his life working on the family dairy farm and long hours driving trucks for various companies including: Maine Distributors, Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., Sawyers Environmental, B & B Paving, and Precision Paving. He had many hobbies and interests. He liked watching old western shows on television, eating chicken from KFC, and having a dish of strawberry ice cream. Roger had a great sense of humor. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Throughout his life, he enjoyed many friendships, including friends from work and his best friend and brother-in-law, Byron Curtis.

Roger is survived by four children, Lori (Lawler) Hopkins and husband, Galen, Mark Lawler and wife, Rose, Ricky Lawler, and Jason Lawler; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Connie Curtis (Byron), Patsy Husson (Jim), Paul Lawler (Darlene), Richard Lawler Sr. (Carlene), and Tom Lawler Sr. (Angie); sister-in-law, Kathie Lawler; two aunts; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was predeceased by his father, Norman Lawler Sr. in 1981; his mother, Helene Lawler in 2005; his sister, Linda Williams in 2021; and his brother, Norman Jr. in 2024.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by many. The family is very grateful to Lori and her daughter, Haylee, for the loving care they provided in his final months of life. Many thanks to his sister, Patsy Lawler Husson, for lovingly writing his obituary and to his various caretakers for the care and numerous road trips they provided.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025, at Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church, 1913 Moosehead Trail in Plymouth. A committal will take place on May 4, 2025, at Sawyer Cemetery in Plymouth. Flowers may be sent to the church listed above.
