Bob was born February 4, 1933 in Vermont to John and Lottie Witham.
Robert's family moved to Bath when he was a young boy where he went to school and graduated from Morse High School in 1951. After high school he went to work at Hyde Windlass as an apprentice machinist, graduating from the apprenticeship program. He also worked at Hodgkins Machine in Randolph, Paul Luke Boatyard as a machinist in Boothbay, and part time at the Sagadahoc Sheriff Department as a deputy. He went to work at Bath Iron Works as a machinist and industrial estimator, retiring at the age of 62. He was a past member of the Odd Fellows Club in Bath, past member of the Woolwich Fire Department where he became fire chief, and was also with the Civil Defense police.
He and his wife Charlotte camped around the state with the Good Sams Club. His favorite campground was Christies in Newport where they camped several weeks each summer. For 18 years they wintered in Florida where he loved playing golf with his friends. In Hermon, he took great pride in his lawn which looked like a golf course. One of his favorite hobbies was spending time in his wood shop making gifts for family and friends. In his younger years he went square dancing, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Many weekends were spent snowmobiling in Eustis with family and friends.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Ronald Larrabee.
