Robert T. Roxby
Belfast - Professor Robert Roxby, known as Bob and sometimes Rocket to his friends, has died after a brief illness. The cause of death was pulmonary fibrosis.
He is survived by wife, Beverly; daughters Caitlin and Meghan and their five children; plus Beverly's three children and two grandchildren.
For 20 years, Bob taught biochemistry at U/Maine/Orono, and for four of those years he headed the microbiology department. From 1999 until 2012, he lived full time on Frenchboro, a small fishing island off Bass Harbor, before he and Beverly moved to Belfast. He was quiet, thoughtful, smart, generous, and quite funny. He will be sorely missed by all who have known him.
A celebration of his life will be held this summer.

My parents, Rod and Donna Forsgren, were friends from UMOrono and introduced Bob and family to Frenchboro. He celebrated downeast island life the and was indeed a thoughtful, smart, funny and generous man. Love to the missing Professors.

Bob will be truly missed but remembered for his good heart, dry sense of humor, and book reviews and suggestions. He leaves a wonderful legacy in his beautiful family and loving spouse.
