Bangor - Robert Ellsworth Reynolds, 92, passed away at his home on May 30, 2019, surrounded by family. Bob was born to Perley Reynolds & Winnifred Russell on January 30, 1927 in Brockton, Massachusetts and was the third of four children.
Bob served his country in WWII in Okinawa, Japan, as a Seaman, 1st Class, in the LION unit of the Navy firefighters. After hitch-hiking from California back to his home in Maine, he married the love of his life, Velma Lou Shaw, on August 30, 1947. Together they raised a family of five children: Robert P. Reynolds, Donald E. Reynolds, Gary D. Reynolds, Sandra A. Reagan, and James S. Reynolds.
Bob was a proud barber for more than 70 years, having shops on both State and Exchange Streets and in the Bangor House. He and Velma also managed the Tarratine Club for many years.
He enjoyed golfing most of all and was a Life Member of the PGA Partner's Club. Bob was also the only remaining original member of the Bangor Municipal Golf Course at the time of his death.
Bob is survived by four of his children and his sister Marge along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brothers Clifford & Donald, his son Bobby, and his wife of more than 60 years, Velma.
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 7, 2019 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. Bangor.

Never a harsh word for me, just a smile and an open heart. From my childhood to my last recent visit. You will be missed.

It is so difficult to write this condolence as our Mom's ' Brother Bob' and our Uncle has passed. There are so many great memories of Uncle Bob along with Aunt Velma and our cousins gathering at Valley Ave in Bangor, Woodland Ave in Brockton and, in more recent years, Portsmouth, NH at Scott and Laurene's home. Mom would regale us with stories of the adventures with her brothers, Cliff, Bobby and Donny and their lives growing up in Maine. I loved that Uncle Bob didn't care that anyone saw him cry whenever he saw his sister Marge each time they got together especially over the last few years, knowing each time may be the last. They had such a sweet, everlasting brother/sister bond. You will ...be deeply missed, Dear Bob, by your family and especially by your sister Margie. With my deepest sympathies to all of my cousins, much love, cousin BarbaraRead more

Bob was a great friend who was much more than a barber to those who knew him. We are truly going to miss him. He was a vibrant individual almost until the moment he passed. Our condolences to the entire family.

Bobby was a special man. Always with a smile and "good to see you". Used to sit on his porch for my haircut. Loved his family, he will be missed by many. My sincere condolences on his passing.
