Dallas, TX, and Surry, Maine - Robert Joseph Gibbons, 92, husband of Starr Gibbons, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brewer on November 10, 1932, the son of Harold and M. Estelle (Oakes) Gibbons.
He had a successful 30-year career with the Department of Transportation in Washington, D.C., and ultimately retired to his favorite place: Surry, Maine.
He is survived by his children, David Gibbons, Patricia (Gibbons) McLaughlin, Cathy (Gibbons) Warner and her husband, Steve, Meridith Camp and her husband, David, Kathleen Ford, and Neal Ford and his wife, Kayce; nine grandchildren, Meghan, Mark and Joseph Warner, Dylan and Conor McLaughlin, Carter Camp, Reagan Huffstuttler and Cooper and Elliot Ford; and many devoted nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his three older sisters, Eleanore "Ellie," Elaine, and Pat, who predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2025, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa's Roman Catholic Church, 425 S. Main St., Brewer, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
