Richard Allen Spencer
Dedham - Richard "Dickie" Allen Spencer, Sr., 75, of Green Lake, ME, passed away peacefully on October 24th, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was a larger than life figure to his children and grandchildren, and the toughest man they knew. He was charming, kind, and would always go out of his way to help people. He was so loved, and he is incredibly missed.

Richard was born on March 24, 1944, to Bert Spencer and Bessie Martin in Machias, ME. As a young man, Richard served in the Army, and afterward worked installing radio towers, in machine shops, and as a woodcutter, the latter of which was a passion of his. There was nothing Richard liked better than the outdoors. He took pride in hand building his homes and spent as much time as possible working outside on his property in Green Lake, tending to his garden and bees. He also had a love for the water and being on his boat, the Katie Marie, which he also hand built and named after his youngest daughter. He was an excellent dancer, enjoyed going on country rides, listening to old country music, spending time with his dog, Buster, and he especially loved his family. Although he will be deeply missed every day, his love for all things outdoors will live on through his family.

Richard is predeceased by his parents Bert and Bessie, and son, Danny. He is survived by the love of his life, Charleen Wallace; his children, Richard Spencer, Jr. of Green Lake, ME; Gloria (Shawn) Bragdon of Bangor, ME; Jeremy (Christina) Spencer of Palmer, AK; Katie Day of Levant, ME; his stepchildren Billie Jo (Roy) Warren of Franklin, ME; Heidi Paul, Bobby Paul, Julian Paul, and TJ Joseph of New Brunswick, Canada; and his grandchildren, Alyssa, Justin, Tyler, AJ, Kasandera, Curtis, Jessica, Lilly, Brendan, Gage, Cole, Beau, Natasha, Elizabeth, Derrek, and Spencer, named after his grandfather; and his sister, Gloria (Wyman) Sherman of Thomaston, GA.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 9th, 2-5 PM, at Holden Congregational Church, in Holden, ME

You were the love of my life, and I was yours. I will miss our country, and ocean rides and you singing to me looking over with your beautiful smile, and our trips to Georgia to visit your sister and family. We had some awesome times together. I will always love you. Charleen
