Richard J. Chabre
Richard last worked as a foremen with Topper & Griggs Engineering, Connecticut, over 20 years before his retirement in 1991. Following retirement, he and his wife relocated back to their beloved St. John Valley, where they enjoyed several years of managing a "hobby" farm in Cyr Plantation. Richard cherished the many visits from his family and friends, including niece Charlene Elmblad, cousin Rene Corbin, Wayne Levesque, Chuck Gagnon, Gene Desjardins, and many others that would stop in.
He is survived by: three children, Steven Chabre and his wife Shirley of Terryville, CT, Larry Chabre of Danielson, CT, and Norma Trepkus and her husband Brian of Coventry, CT; four siblings, Edwina Michaud of Grand Isle, Juliette St. Pierre of Van Buren, Irene Rowland and her husband Gene of Florida, and Romeo Chabre and his wife Martha of Bangor; four grandsons, Christopher, Jonathan, Kevin, and Jason; three great grandchildren, Amelia, Trinity and Gabrielle; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased his wife of over 46 years, Maxine (Gagnon) Chabre in 2001, a son, Rodney Chabre in 2009, and twelve siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, April 15, 2019, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday 6-8:00 PM and Monday 8:30-9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren.
