West Enfield - Renaud Castonguay, (Pepe & Grampy to his grandchildren) 86, passed away October 14, 2018 at Cummings Health Care facility in Howland. He was born July 16, 1932 to Joseph Castonguay and Suzanne Michaud at St Quentin, New Brunswick Canada.
Renaud married the love of his life Carmen Bourgoin on August 21, 1956. Together he, his wife and their three children moved to the United States in 1965. Renaud was a welder all his life and opened his own welding business in 1969 known as "Renaud's Welding". He shared his love of welding with his grandson Levi by teaching him how to weld. His enduring words to Levi were "Your work is your advertisement".
Renaud was very active in his Christian faith. He was a Communicant of St Leo's Parish in Howland and was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight and District Deputy.
Above all Renaud loved spending time with his grandchildren. Teasing them was his way of showing his love and affection. He was also an avid fisherman and would often go off fishing with his fishing buddy, Ellis Bailey.
Renaud is survived by wife of 62 years, Carmen; daughter, Marjolaine Thibodeau and Tracy of Milford; sons, Jacques Castonguay and Sharon of Enfield and Rock Castonguay and Kelley of West Enfield; grandchildren, Ashley LaFlamme and Kevin, Kristen White and TJ, Bruce Hoxie, Levi, Gabriel, Isaac and Abigail Castonguay; and great-grandson Everett LaFlamme; brothers, Gil Castonguay and Fleurette, Benoit Castonguay and Gisele, Maurice Castonguay and Solange, all of NB Canada; sisters, May Martel and Roland and Evelyne Page, both of Bristol CT, Blanche Castonguay and Robert of New Milford CT, Rose Hebert and Leo of NB Canada; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Leo and Camille; and sisters, Therese and Rolande.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 20, 2018 at St Leo's church in Howland. Relatives and family may greet the family Friday October 19, 2018 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Clay's Funeral Home 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, ME. A family only burial will be at St Matthew's Cemetery in West Enfield immediately following the mass. Online condolences may be expressed at
