PRESQUE ISLE - Ralph Freeman LaPointe, 73, took his final walk to work on Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born in Mars Hill on September 30, 1945, the son of Lawrence and Laura (Nadeau) LaPointe.
A loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, Ralph is survived by his wife Martha (Hanson) LaPointe of Presque Isle; a brother Darrell LaPointe of North Hampton, CT; sisters, Lor-raine Cyr of Burlington, CT, Betty Melvin of Orrington, ME, and Mae Schwartz of Bradenton, FL; a daughter Mary Richardson and her husband Baron of Chester, NH; a son CJ and his wife Shane of Exeter, NH; grandchildren, Claire, Alexis, LeeLou, Russell; and extended family grandchildren, Chan, Aza and Shaianne Theriault.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Lynwood, twin Robert, Russell, and Gilbert; and sister, Rita Cyr.
Happiest when he could serve, Ralph's work at the Presque Isle Community Center and at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home gave him purpose in the community he loved. Jack of All Trades, he could fix anything. Small engine repair was Ralph's hobby and he fixed multitudes of lawn mowers and snowblowers for his community of friends. He was a fixture at the Northeastland Hotel horseshoe or at Tim Horton's enjoying coffee in the company of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019, followed by a reception at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769 or to the charity of ones choice.
