PRESQUE ISLE - Ralph Freeman LaPointe, 73, took his final walk to work on Friday, August 2, 2019, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born in Mars Hill on September 30, 1945, the son of Lawrence and Laura (Nadeau) LaPointe.
A loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, Ralph is survived by his wife Martha (Hanson) LaPointe of Presque Isle; a brother Darrell LaPointe of North Hampton, CT; sisters, Lor-raine Cyr of Burlington, CT, Betty Melvin of Orrington, ME, and Mae Schwartz of Bradenton, FL; a daughter Mary Richardson and her husband Baron of Chester, NH; a son CJ and his wife Shane of Exeter, NH; grandchildren, Claire, Alexis, LeeLou, Russell; and extended family grandchildren, Chan, Aza and Shaianne Theriault.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Lynwood, twin Robert, Russell, and Gilbert; and sister, Rita Cyr.
Happiest when he could serve, Ralph's work at the Presque Isle Community Center and at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home gave him purpose in the community he loved. Jack of All Trades, he could fix anything. Small engine repair was Ralph's hobby and he fixed multitudes of lawn mowers and snowblowers for his community of friends. He was a fixture at the Northeastland Hotel horseshoe or at Tim Horton's enjoying coffee in the company of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019, followed by a reception at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church Street, Presque Isle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769 or to the charity of ones choice. Marth, Mary, and CJ, we are so very sorry for your loss. I will miss Ralph and his never-ending interest in farm machinery and his beloved John Deere brand. I first met Ralph when you and he were dating back in high school and you brought him to our camp at Portage Lake one weekend and he was an instant friend to me. What a great life long gift of friendship that he left all of us with. He will be fondly remembered and has left us all with so many memories of his life and work here in Presque Isle,

My memories are seeing Ralph on the tractor mowing for the community center or walking into Tim Hortons in the morning with that wonderful smile. He was always friendly and always had a smile. I will never forget him and neither will our community. Your family is in our prayers. Love you Martha!!

Ralph, your smile is one of the greatest memories I have. You always would take time to speak to "old Easton" friends when we saw you.

Martha, Mary and CJ, please except my condolences on Ralph‘s passing. I met him in the early 80s, and every single time I saw him (usually solving world problems at the Northeastland café or at Tim Horton’s) through the years, he had a smile and a wave or a handshake for me. I am so thankful to have been touched by his kindness and warmth over the years. I offer my warmest wishes that all your memories of Ralph are filled with love.

To Martha and all the family;
So sorry to hear on the passing of Ralph. How heartbreaking this has to be for all of you. What a treat it was to run into Ralph while out on our afternoon walks or enjoying a morning coffee with "the boys". Always with a smile on his face and a story to share, he was a real joy to be around! Please know we have all of you in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve your loss. As active as he was in the community, he'll most certainly be missed by all who knew him. Sincere condolences....and may God bless......

I best knew Ralph through our mutual membership in the PI Fish & Game Club and always enjoyed a wave when he was riding equipment for the city or a chat when he was on his own two feet. My sincere condolences to his family. He was a wonderful man, and I will miss seeing him in the many places he kept busy.

Hard hit on this one, they just don't come any better then Ralph. It was my pleasure to meet and work with Ralph in the early 70's. Though we haven't done much together through the years, anytime we ran into each other, it was as if no time had passed ! ~ he was that kind of guy. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to Martha and family. Rest in Peace, friend, I shall hold you in my thoughts and heart.
