Phyllis L. (Perkins)(Boyle) Roberts

Boynton Beach, FL and Bangor - Phyllis (Perkins)(Boyle) Roberts, 82, died peacefully on April 4, 2019, at Trustbridge Hospice of Bethesda Hospital East after a brief illness. Phyllis was born in Calais, Maine on February 27, 1937, the only child of the late Minden and Thelma (McGlauflin) Perkins.
Phyllis was a graduate of Calais Memorial High School in 1955. After graduation she moved to Bangor, Maine and attended Husson College. Graduating in 1957 with a degree in Secretarial Sciences, she worked as a medical secretary for the late Dr. Gardner Moulton until her first child was born. She married James P. Boyle in 1960 and together they raised two daughters, Linda and Leslie. Phyllis was a stay at home mom while her children were young, devoting her energy and time to ensure their happiness. As her daughters became older, Phyllis re-entered the workforce. She was employed as an office manager for Stacey's Plaza Motel, a medical office manager for Promise Clinic and Dr. Ann Holland. In 1985, Phyllis and her youngest daughter, Leslie, moved to Florida where she became employed for the next 17 years as the office manager for Palm Beach Ear, Nose and Throat. It was there that she developed friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime. Once retired, Phyllis filled her time by volunteering for Meals on Wheels, working the voting polls and assisting anyone who needed an extra helping hand. She could also be found relaxing and enjoying time with her many friends playing Rummikub, yard "sailing", "tooling around", shopping or availing her services to her church. Equal to her love of family, Phyllis loved her church family and the Daughters of the King where she was blessed with friendships she treasured. She became confirmed in 2010 in Saint Joseph's Episcopal Church. She worshiped there, volunteered there and will live on into eternity there.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda L. Boyle of Glenburn, Maine and Leslie A. (Boyle)Thornhill and her husband, Lester Thornhill of Greenacres, Florida and her only and most favorite grandson, Jordan Thornhill, who is her greatest pride and joy. Phyllis also leaves behind her special cousin, Eleanor Clark of Calais, Maine, several other cousins and a multitude of dear friends cultivated over her lifetime.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, the father of her children and ex-husband, Jim Boyle of Bangor, Maine and ex-husband, Bill Roberts of Nebraska.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service for Phyllis on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Joseph's Episcopal Church with The Reverend Martin W. (Father Marty) Zlatic presiding. Following the service there will be a committal of her cremains at the church with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Phyllis Roberts may be made to Saint Joseph's Episcopal Church, 3300A South Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, Florida 33435.

Dearest Linda & Leslie. What a sad day to open these obituaries and find your dear mother listed among them. I truly admired Phyllis, and considered her a friend. Although she has lived in Florida many years, I still see her in her little house next door to my parents. She and her glorious old dog Gabe. My heart is with you both.

Phyllis and I spent many hours together. We were friend since Husson days. Visited every summer after I moved to Conn. She would come to Blue Hill and I would go to Bangor. Lots of memories were shared during those visits. Our last visit was on July 29th 2018, my 80th birthday. We shared a nice meal and, as usual, talked about "old times". I will miss her. My daughters asked me last Sunday, "What is it like to be the last one of your group?" I really couldn't answer. Please accept my heart felt sympathy.
