Frenchville and Fort Kent, Maine - Peter Morin, 71, peacefully passed away June 1, 2026, at a Bangor hospital, with his loving wife at his side. He was born June 13, 1954, in Fort Kent, a son of the late Roland and Yolande (Marcotte) Morin.
Peter last worked at former Mercy Home, Eagle Lake, for several years in the maintenance department and delivered the Bangor Daily News. Previously, Peter worked in the Bethel area at a local hardware store and automotive store. While in Bethel, he ran a side business, called Maple Leaf Red, which consisted of making several different flavored BBQ and dipping sauces; you could buy them locally in Bethel and Fort Kent. He had his hand in everything if it had anything to do with nature and water. He and his wife managed a kayak business in Clair, New Brunswick. He also was a former kayak and canoe instructor in New Hampshire and New Brunswick. He worked in forestry doing moose and deer yard surveys, civil culture and tree plantations. He did surveys on lakes and rivers for fish stocking. Pete assisted in several search and rescue missions in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and was a member of the Atlantic Salmon Association.
He is survived by his wife of more than 38 years, Sandra Plourde of Frenchville; two children, Pavasiya Nugent of Edmundston, NB, and Jacob Morin of Connecticut; four grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Morin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on July 1, 2026, at St. Louis Church, East Main Street, Fort Kent. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
