Paul Weston Ames Obituary

Verona Island, Maine - Paul Weston Ames, 78, passed away on September 25, 2025, at home with his loving wife and family by his side. Paul was born in Rockland on November 25, 1946, the oldest child of Edwin and Emma Ames.

He lived on Matinicus Island prior to moving to Bucksport at the age of 11. He graduated from Bucksport High School in 1966. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Marines, where he proudly served as a Lance Corporal until 1968. When Paul returned home, he began working at the Bucksport Paper Mill. Shortly after he found his passion for carpentry, a trade he pursued tirelessly, even after retirement. Outside of work, Paul found joy in fishing, watching sports, attending his grandchildren's activities and spending time with his family and friends. Paul had a lot of accomplishments in his life but his biggest were his four daughters and grandchildren.

Paul is survived by his wife, Barb Ames; daughters, Valori Mitchell, Bobbi Lynn Johnson and husband, Matt, Tammi Ames and partner, Michel Cyr, and Stormi Petravicz and husband, Nik; and his beloved 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. He also leaves behind his special sister, Carol McIntyre; and special aunt, Marie Perkins. Paul was predeceased by his parents; and Uncle George. The family would like to thank CHCS Hospice for their care and compassion in Paul's final days.

A celebration of life will be held on October 12, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Bucksport United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bucksport United Methodist Church in Paul's name.
