Penobscot, Maine - Patricia Mae (Austin) Snell was born in Castine, Jan. 24, 1935, and passed away at her home in West Penobscot on May 13, 2025.
She was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Olive Austin; her husband, Roy Snell; brothers, James and Norris (Buster) Austin; sister-in-law, Esther Austin; and nephew, Benjamin. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Austin; best friend and cousin, Venessa Arsenault; nieces, Libby Rosemeier, Jan Pflugradt, Margie Gray, Jodelle Austin, and Bethany Light; nephews, Mark Austin and Ron Austin; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pat graduated from Bucksport High School in 1953, Farmington State Teacher's College in 1957, and later went on to get her master's degree at UMaine. She married Roy Snell in 1968 and moved to Aroostook County. There she taught school for many years and worked for the UMaine Extension Service. After her husband Roy passed in 2001, Pat retired and moved back to Penobscot. She enjoyed taking care of her yard, her flower gardens and visiting with family and friends.
There will be a celebration of life at Penobscot United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. All are welcome. Arrangements are under the care of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Bucksport. mitchelltweedie-young.com
