Norman J. Howell Obituary

Orneville, Maine - Norman J. Howell, 82, the first born son of Grace (Stucy) and Norman B. Howell, passed away June 17, 2025, from cardiac illness. He was born in Newark, NJ, he attended Irvington Vocational School, and became a master carpenter. He relocated to Maine in 1985 and worked as a carpenter.

Norm was a very quiet, thoughtful man, and even somewhat shy. In the winter months, he would keep a chain in his pickup so he could pull drivers who were stuck back onto the road. He never mentioned his acts of kindness to anyone. He had beautiful carpentry skills, always trying to please his clients.

Norm was a loving, caring husband, and will be sorely missed by his loving wife, Emma (Carle) Howell; brother, Robert Howell; daughter, Lynn Palmer; sons, Norman and Michael Howell; brother-in-law, Thomas Carle; grandchildren, Reba, Katy, Scott, and Michael; and many great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Norman.

A committal service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025, in the Carle family lot at Pine Tree Cemetery in Brownville Junction. After the service there will be continued celebration of Norman's life at the family home, 1609 Lyford Rd., Orneville. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home.
