Brewer, Maine - Nora M. Audet, 85, died February 26, 2025, in Brewer. She was born March 27, 1939, in Caribou, the youngest daughter of Louis and Cecile (Raymond) Audet.
Growing up in Portland, Maine, in a large family of 12 siblings, Nora graduated from Portland High School. She worked as a sales clerk in Portland, Maine, department stores and started her lifelong career at JCPenney, first in Newburgh, New York, and later in Bangor, Maine, until retiring at the end of her career. During retirement, Nora still loved fashion and curating the right outfits for herself and enjoyed doing this for her youngest granddaughter, Lilyana, to whom she devoted much time from her birth until she was in grade school. Even during her nursing home stay, she liked to give fashion advice and often tried to "manage" her nurses. She very much enjoyed thrift shopping, cooking for BBQs, tending to her yard, playing Mahjong, hiding from getting her photo taken, laughing, watching her "shows," and a simple vanilla ice cream cone.
She is survived by one son, Philip Audet of Brewer; three grandchildren, Kyle Audet, Klarissa Quigley and Lily Quigley; her big sister, Rose Weglinski, with whom she was extremely close; and a couple more siblings and a few dear friends.
A private burial will take place in keeping with her "no fuss" wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund at curealz.org/giving/donate. Memories and messages of Nora may be shared with her family on the tribute wall of kileyandfoley.com.
