Nicholas R. Leibowitz Obituary

PITTSFIELD, Maine - Nicholas R. Leibowitz, 30, died on April 28, 2023. Nick was born on January 30, 1993, in Willingboro, NJ, the son of Robert and Gina (Aube) Leibowitz. He graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 2011 and served our country in the United States Air Force.

Nick was a modest man and downplayed his intelligence especially in math and science. He was a deep thinker that enjoyed having long philosophical conversations. He did not judge anyone because he knew the pain of being judged himself. Nick showed immense empathy to others and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He loved animals and will be extremely missed by his dogs, Louie and Bella ... who were always at his side, as well as his cats, Calypso and Orion. Nick enjoyed getting creative with his culinary skills and sharing those dishes at a meal with others or sending pictures of his dishes via text. He would frequently pack his vehicle with supplies, equipment and his dogs; then drive for hours along the coast or in the Highlands of Maine stopping to fish every chance he could. Nick loved riding his motorcycles, playing RuneScape with friends, and ventured into several artistic venues such as drawing, painting, woodburning, and carving.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Gina Leibowitz; his sisters, Meagan and Jessica; his grandparents, David and Renette Leibowitz; his grandmother, Theresa Aube; his aunt, Sue Denny; his uncle and aunt, Tom and Laura Aube; his uncle, John Aube and his companion, Heather Pedersen; and his cousins, Heather Bernard, Tyler Vandrell, Elli Aube and Isaac Aube.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Norman Aube.

A time of visiting will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 238 Detroit Ave., Pittsfield.
