Myna  Henderson


Bangor - Myna Henderson, age 98, and a lifelong resident of the Orono and Bangor communities, died late Thursday evening, November 17th 2016, at Montello Manor where she had been a resident for the past two years. She was born in St. Anne, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 8, 1918, one of six children born to Onezime and Delphine (Girard) Martin and grew up in the Bangor and Old Town communities. On June 14, 1947, Myna married Walter Henderson of Old Town. He predeceased her in July of 1992. She first worked as a waitress and later in local shoe manufacturing in Orono and Bangor for many years until her retirement. Among her favorite enjoyments in her spare time were sewing, tatting, and crocheting, but perhaps, even more than those hobbies, she thoroughly enjoyed dancing. While a resident at Montello Manor, she was most recently named "Resident of the Month" for June 2016. She was a loving, devoted, and hardworking wife, sister, and aunt who will be dearly missed. She leaves behind a niece Irene G. ward and husband Ernest of New Gloucester; five grandnieces and grandnephews Michael, Scott and Steve Labrecque of Sabattus, Kristeene Ward Dulac of Greene and John Ward of Roxbury; and two step-daughters Earlene Boardman and Mary Ferland. She was predeceased by four sisters Alexina, Lena, Gertrude and Martha and one brother Norman. Graveside Committal Prayers will take place on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at 11 a.m., at Lawndale Cemetery in Old Town.
