Austin, Texas - Michael Thomas Colavito, known to family and friends simply as Mike, passed away on May 13, 2026, in Austin, Texas, after a courageous battle with appendiceal cancer. He was 25 years old.

Born on September 14, 2000, in White Plains, New York, Mike never met a stranger. His quick wit, infectious laugh, quirky sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty made people feel like they belonged. Whether you had known him for years or had just met him, Mike had a gift for making people smile and turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. He embraced life with enthusiasm, and his energy was contagious to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In July 2021, Mike took a leap of faith and moved to Austin, Texas, where he quickly built a life he was proud of. At Roger Beasley Mazda South, his genuine personality, love of cars, and ability to connect with people made him one of the dealership's top sales consultants. Before long, customers and coworkers alike knew him simply as "Mazda Mike." He wasn't just selling cars - he was sharing something he genuinely loved, and people couldn't help but be drawn to his enthusiasm. In April 2025, Mike celebrated one of the proudest milestones of his life when he purchased his very first home.

Mike found joy in everything he did. Whether he was gaming with friends late into the night, riding dirt bikes, adding another piece to his firearm collection, or searching for his next favorite car, he lived life with passion and purpose. Race weekends at Circuit of The Americas were among his favorites, where the sound of engines, the thrill of competition, and the excitement of being surrounded by fellow enthusiasts made for some of his happiest days.

His two Italian Greyhounds, Milo and Lily, were never far from his side. His beloved "Iggys" were more than pets - they were family, faithful companions who brought him endless happiness and unconditional love.

Some of Mike's favorite memories were made in Maine. Whether he was visiting friends, relaxing at the family camp, or making the annual trip to Sugarloaf for Reggae Fest, those weekends were filled with music, laughter, stories, and the people he loved most. They became memories he treasured and stories he loved telling again and again.

Even through the challenges of his illness, Mike faced life with remarkable determination, resilience, and the same sense of humor that defined him. His strength inspired those around him, and he never let his diagnosis define who he was.

Mike is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Kimberly Colavito; his sisters, Stephanie Colavito Galinski and her husband, Nic, and Jennifer Colavito Buhagiar and her husband, Zane; his brother, Anthony Colavito and his wife, Beatrix; his cherished nieces, Isabella and Vanessa; maternal grandmother Bonnie Ann Hamm, fiancé Kate Spradling and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers, and extended family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Mike's family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace, held in God's grace, and watching over the people — and pups — he loved so dearly.

Mike loved life, and he hated sadness. He would never want this to be a day remembered only with tears, but one filled with stories, laughter, music, and a toast among family and friends. A brief memorial ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by a toast to "Mazda Mike." In lieu of flowers or donations, raise a glass, rev an engine, or hug someone you love.
