Houlton, Maine - Mary Jane (Hurlbut) Sinclair, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 7, 2025. She was born in Georgia, VT, on Dec. 31, 1926, to Albert and Eva (Moffatt) Hurlbut.
She grew up on a dairy farm on the shores of Lake Champlain during The Great Depression. She eventually settled in Maine, where she met and married Robert Sinclair. Mary Jane taught Sunday school at the Houlton Christian & Missionary Alliance Church for a number of years. She was also involved with Child Evangelism, having Good News Clubs in the home for neighborhood children. She had a passion for gardening and spent many summers in Ellsworth with her sister, Helen, and nephew, Dale, growing and supplying fresh vegetables to many restaurants on MDI. She was blessed with sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Sinclair; two daughters, Sandra (Henderson) Chattley and Glenna Henderson; brother, Lawrence Kendall; sister, Betsy Hurlbut; brother, Donald Hurlbut; and sister, Helen Maddocks. She is survived by seven children; daughter, Judy Kelley and husband, Dana; daughter, Patti Henderson; daughter, Patsy Chattley; son, Daniel Sinclair and wife, Jody; son, Mark Sinclair and wife, Lydia; son, Nathan Sinclair; and daughter, Jennifer Brennan and husband, Michael.
A graveside memorial service will be held later this year for family and close friends. Date and time to be announced.
