Fort Fairfield, Maine - Mary Lou Doughty, 91, passed away Monday evening, May 25, 2026, at the Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle, following a brief illness. She was born September 24, 1934, in Island Falls, the daughter of Arthur B. and Essie L. (Drake) Armour.

She was a graduate of the Oakfield Community High School, class of 1952 and the University of Maine, Presque Isle, where she received a bachelor's degree in social work in 1977. She was co-owner of Aroostook Van Lines, Fort Fairfield, and also worked at Shea Oil, Fort Fairfield, retiring from D.F.A.S., Loring Commerce Center in 2006. Mary Lou was a member of the Fort Fairfield Rotary Club and was the first woman elected as president in District 7810, and was the recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award by Rotary International. She also served on the Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce board of directors, the Fort Fairfield Town Council, the Fort Fairfield Planning Board, the St. Paul's Episcopal Church Vestry, and was an honorary member of the Laureate Gamma Sorority. Mary Lou greatly enjoyed reading, puttering in her flower and vegetable gardens, and her earlier years, traveling.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was predeceased by three grandchildren, Curtis Doughty, Kristie Doughty, and Drew Rattray. She is survived by her children, Barbara Ireland of Island Falls, Becky Rattray and her husband, Dana, of Stockholm, Kent Doughty and his wife, Kim, of Hermon, Kerby Doughty and his wife, Letitia, and Terry Doughty of Bristol, CT. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Stacy Everett and her companion, Jim Lemieux, of Pittsfield, Aaron Ireland and his companion, Crystal Sharon, of Corrina, Jessica Doroen and her husband, Joshua, of Fort Fairfield, Amy Doughty of Caribou, Kess Doughty-Williams and her husband, Aaron, of Winterport, and Dascia Rattray of Stockholm; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, June 1, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. Interment will be private at Smyrna Mills Cemetery.
