Columbia Falls, Maine - Mary E. (Alley) Ortega, 68, of Columbia Falls, Maine, died October 28, 2024, at home after a long illness. Mary was born May 5, 1956, on Beals Island. She was the daughter of the late Ella and Romie Alley.

Mary is survived by her son, Guy and husband, Joseph; her daughter, Marilyn, husband, Patrick, and grandpuppy, Julio; twin sister, Marilyn O'Bryan; brother, Wayne Alley and wife, Addie; special cousin, Amelia Govea; special family friend, Nancy Langlois; brothers-in-law, Richard and Ruben Ortega; niece, Crystal and partner, Oscar; nephews, Ernest Cirone Jr. and wife, Lisa, Timothy Cirone and wife, Cheryl, and Michelle Brasslett and husband, Todd; nephew, Jason Alley; great-nieces, Amanda Tozier, Katie Meserve, and Ashley Lake; and great-nephew, Cody Whitt. Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Bonifacio "Barney" Ortega Jr., brother-in-law, Robert O'Bryan; sister, Janet Cirone; brother-in-law, Ernest Cirone Sr.; nephews, Patrick and Andy Cirone; and special family friend, Timothy Langlois.

Throughout Mary's life, she devoted herself to helping others through her work and volunteer efforts. She was a nursing assistant for many years, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 9, and past president of the Ladies Guild of Holy Name Catholic Church in Machias. Before retiring, she owned Mary Ella's Sub shop in Harrington. Mary had a passion for cooking and showed her love through culinary creations. Mary will be remembered for her kindness, warmth. sense of humor, and zest for life. She had a big heart and didn't just love, but loved unconditionally.
