Mabel "Peggy" A. Lynds Drost, 96, died July 25, 2026, at her home in Littleton. She was born December 15, 1929, the daughter of Della (Glew) Stearns Friel and George Stearns.
Peggy graduated from Houlton High School. Energetic and uncompromising, she refused retirement and helped with shoveling snow until she was nearly eighty years old. She worked for decades at the former Ivey's Motel, Boutilier's Greenhouse, and at Smith and Wesson in Houlton. She was a prolific baker who loved bowling, dancing, gardening, and animals. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Houlton.
She was predeceased by her parents; eight siblings; and her former husband, Harold Lynds. She also lost three of her children, Leland Lynds, Darlene (Lynds) Price, and Jerre Lynds. She is survived by her husband, James Drost of Houlton; her son, Randy Lynds and his wife, Kallie, of Monticello; her brother, Albert Friel and his wife, Connie, of Linneus; and her daughter-in-law, Wendy Lynds of Littleton. She also leaves grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Jeffrey Lynds, Jen Lynds (Daniel Dobbs), Kristen Theriault (Rick), Chelsea Lynds and her daughter, Ryan, Darcie Ingraham (Randy), Skyler Campbell, Tristen Lynds, Chris Lynds, Donald Price Jr., and Paula Lambert; and great-nieces, Michelle Varney Slike and Amanda Varney.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 7, at 1 p.m. at Littleton Cemetery.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
