Pittsfield, Maine - Lynne Gould Cianchette, 74, passed peacefully on February 13, 2026, after a brief illness, with her family by her side. As the daughter of Ralph and Muriel (Dean) Gould, she was born in Bangor, Maine, on October 3, 1951.
Lynne was raised in Pittsfield, and it was also where she raised her children and built deep roots in the community she loved, always calling it "home." She graduated with the class of 1969 from Warsaw and proudly maintained her lifelong loyalty to Maine Central Institute (MCI). After raising her children (including all of the extras she welcomed into her home) she moved to Florida. Lynne spent 18 years in Florida, working and maintaining strong friendships before retiring and coming back home to Maine to be closer to her family.
Her career was devoted to serving students, working at MCI and St. Petersburg College, where she made deep connections and lasting impressions. Service to others defined Lynne's life. She gave her time generously through the Sebasticook Valley Hospital Auxiliary, the ARTS Club, MCI Football Boosters, and so much more. She was also known for providing home-baked goods, soups, and meals to friends and families she cared about, often showing her love through food and thoughtful acts of kindness.
Lynne is survived by her loving children: sons, Aaron Cianchette (Erin Gray) and Sean Callahan (Hilary Glaus); and daughters, Megan Kelley (Daniel) and Nicole Steeves (Patrick). Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishments were her grandchildren, Cole, Kiely, Drew, Jack, Bridget, Luke, Fiona, and Shannon; as well as bonus grandchildren, Jonathan, Emma, and Eli. She was Mumma/Grammie/Auntie Lynne to many more who were blessed by her love. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Gould; sister-in-law, Mary Jane; her nephew, Stephen; and niece, Jenna. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brother, Robert Gould.
Her children would truly like to thank those who provided her exceptional care at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center and Mass General.
A celebration of life with lots of bright colors per Lynne's request, will be planned for the spring.
As a three-time breast cancer survivor, Lynne showed remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life. Donations in her memory may be made to: Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Women's Health Center Nancy Stone Fund, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402.
