East Millinocket - Louise Marie (Gantnier) Cote, 93, passed away on January 23, 2020, at home, surrounded by family. She was born June 30, 1926, in Crystal, Maine, to Jerome and Lillian (Dubay) Gantnier. Louise was raised on her family farm in Benedicta, alongside her sister, Jane and two brothers, John and Louis.
Louise met her future husband, Felix Cote, at a dance hall in Sherman, and they married on August 6, 1951. They raised their 13 children in the home that Felix built on Eastern Avenue in East Millinocket. Felix passed in 1975, leaving Louise to continue raising eight children on her own.
After working as a lab technician as a young woman, Louise worked for many years at the Guest House in Millinocket. She received great comfort from her devout Catholic faith, attending church regularly throughout her life. Louise was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella for over 50 years, holding numerous posts.
Louise is survived by her children, Suzanne "Sue" Kendall, Myra, John, Joseph, Joel, Jeffrey and wife, "Tania," Jacob and wife, Angela, Jayson, and Sherri McLaughlin and husband, George Jr. "Buddy." She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Louise was predeceased by her parents, husband, siblings, and children, Jerome "Jerry," Justin, Marietta, and James "Jamie."
Louise loved spending time with her family at home and the Cote family camp at South Twin Lake. She was a member of the ladies pitch club and active participant in countless community events for many years.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family would like to thank CHCS home health and hospice services and her dedicated team of caregivers, who provided the loving care which allowed Louise to live her finals days at home.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 am Tuesday, January 28th at St. Peter's Chatholic Church, East Millinocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11 am. Spring interment will be at the East Millinocket cemetery. To leave condolences and to share memories, please visit bowersfuneral.com.

Louise was such a very special lady. I came to know Louise when she was part of the Great Northern Paper Guest House team. She was the kindest, purest soul with a very strong and loving heart. She kept the Guest House in full supply with her famous ripe, red raspberries every year. Those berries would turn into delicious pies enjoyed by people all around the world who visited the Guest House in those days. She has loved greatly and suffered tremendous losses during her lifetime graciously. Louise, rest in eternal peace after a life well lived. Your memory will live on in all those lives you touched. Sincerest sympathies to your family. Gaile

Louise is my grandmother and I love her dearly, I will never forget all of the beautiful memories I have shared with her. Although she has passed her memories will live with me forever and the love her and I shared will always be with us both. She is one of the strongest women I know and I love her so much and she will never be forgotten because she will always be in my heart and my mind.

I am so grateful to have had her in my life. She welcomed me with open arms when I knocked on her door at the age of 18 and we spent all these years ever since writing and sending photos. I made sure to visit whenever I could and wish it had been more often. I already miss her so much. I cherish the memories and I am forever grateful for the role she played in my life.
