Hillsborough, NH, New Hampshire - Rev. Dr. Louis A. George, 89, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at Concord Hospital in New Hampshire. Louis "Lou" was born on July 27, 1935, the son of Roy and Georgia (Martin) George in Sabinsville, Pennsylvania.

Lou was raised in Sabinsville and Westfield Pennsylvania, graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School in 1954 and Eastern College, St. Davids, PA in 1974. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity (Magna Cum Laude) from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, PA, in 1977, and then his Doctor of Ministry in 1980. He spent his life serving the Lord as the pastor of churches in MA, NH, ME, and PA from 1957 until 1980. He finished his career working with the American Baptist Churches denomination across New England. He served as an Area Minister in Maine from 1980 until 1992. He then became the Executive Minister for the American Baptist Churches of Vermont and New Hampshire until he retired in 2000 and then again as the interim Executive Minister in 2010-2011.

Lou met his future bride, Priscilla (Pierce) George, while studying at Houghton College in 1954 and they were married on June 22, 1957. Priscilla predeceased him in October 2023. Their children include, Roy George and his wife, Hope, of Hillsborough, NH, Philip George of Alstead, NH, Sharon Hamilton and her husband, Tim, of Bangor, ME, and Stephen George and his wife, Tammy, of Hartland, ME. Lou had nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth Senzel and Faith George McNeal. He was predeceased by his sister Marilyn English; and his brother, Leonard George.

He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Concord, NH, and was very committed to spreading the gospel through his work and life in New England and the Northeast region. He dedicated his life to being a good and faithful servant of Christ. He was often called upon to help others through their time of need, his work in academia helped many aspiring ministers with their career path, and he volunteered his time and talents to many organizations to serve others.

A celebration of his life will be held on May 17 at 10 a.m. at Manchester First Baptist Church. The address is 536 Union St., Manchester, NH. A family burial service in Pennsylvania will follow later in August. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Baptist Church of Concord, NH, or The American Baptist Churches of Vermont/New Hampshire. Bennett Funeral Home in Concord, NH, is assisting the family with arrangements. Live streaming will be available.
