Louis M. Daigle Obituary
Brewer, Maine - Louis M. Daigle, 77, husband of Deborah (Watters) Daigle, passed peacefully July 5, 2026, in Bangor, following a courageous four-month recovery from a stroke. He was born June 6, 1949, in Bangor, the son of Martin F. and Yvonne M. (Fournier) Daigle.
Lou grew up in South Brewer, and attended St. Teresa's School and was a 1967 graduate of Brewer High School. He became a member of the Air National Guard and then became a self-employed contractor for many years. He was well known for his meticulous attention to detail and as a master perfectionist. Lou did everything from building houses to painting steeples and was a "jack-of-all-trades."
In South Brewer he met the love of his life, Debbie, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage together. Lou taught his children the value of God and family, and a tremendous work ethic and the famous "Daigle way." You could always find him and Deb enjoying a ride to the coast or enjoying their camp on Williams Pond. Lou had a passion for all things outdoors. Whether it be smelting, fiddle-heading, fishing, hunting or gardening, you could always find him on a walk in the woods or picking blueberries on the power lines and coming back with spruce gum, a freshly whittled marshmallow stick or a bouquet of fresh lilacs or wheat.
Surviving in addition to his wife of Bucksport are a daughter, Allison Bennett and Greg of Dixmont; a son, Matthew Daigle and Denise of Brewer; two grandchildren, Brooke and Joshua Bennett; one brother, Robert Daigle of Brewer; three sisters, Joanne Black of Brewer, Doris Seymour of Brewer, and Nancy Penner of Brewer; brothers-in-law, Earl Seymour, Joseph Gould, and Robert Phillips; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and siblings, Marilyn Gould and Elizabeth Phillips. He will be remembered by a special cousin, Paul Verrow, and many lifelong friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2026, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa Catholic Church, 425 South Main St., Brewer. Family and friends may visit 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday immediately prior to the Mass at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
