Fort Fairfield and Bangor, Maine - Loomis P. Cronkite, 78, passed away Sunday evening, May 24, 2026, at his Bangor home, following a brief illness. He was born June 3, 1947, in Fort Fairfield, the son Loomis P. and Florence "Rab" (Foss) Cronkite.

Loomis loved Dunkin Donuts coffee and Cheese Puffs. He also enjoyed the outdoors, and walking, walking, walking!

He was predeceased by his parents; and one brother, Timothy A. Cronkite. He is survived by his loving cousins, Stephaine Oakes of Northfield, VT, Betty Henderson of Andover, NH, Mary Martin, Wilma Jones, both of Vernon, CT, and David Foss of Stafford Springs, CT; as well as many second cousins and caregivers.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, June 12, 2026, 3 p.m. at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Loomis to the charity or organization of one's choice.
