Lois M. (Averill) Nelson Obituary

Dover-Foxcroft, Maine - Lois M. (Averill) Nelson, 81, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, after a long illness. She was born in Dover-Foxcroft on November 15, 1942, to Henry L. Averill and Isabel R. (Day) Averill. Lois enjoyed knitting, reading, watching cardinals at her bird feeders and baking with her grandchildren.

Lois is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert K. Nelson; her son, Robert H. "Skip" Nelson and his wife, Victoria, of Corinna; daughter, Francine R. Stanhope and her husband, Robert, of Raymond; daughter, Tammi-Jo Macomber of Royal Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren, Amanda and Kevin Shelp, Eric and Jessalyn Macomber, Katherine and Duvontee Hart, Caleb Carrell, and Issac Anderson; and 7 great-grandchildren.

At her request there will be no formal services. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery. Special thanks are extended to Beacon Hospice of Maine and donations honoring Lois may be made to them at 1026 Stillwater Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
