Levant, Maine - On May 8, 2026, Lloyd Ames Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Levant. Lloyd was born in Columbia on September 3, 1930. He was the oldest of 10 children born to Lloyd G. Ames Sr. and Leota (Merritt) Ames.

Lloyd moved to Bangor while still in his teens and shortly thereafter moved to Kenduskeag in 1947, where he met the love of his life, Eunice Partridge, and married her in 1951. Lloyd and Eunice raised three sons together and enjoyed 72 years of marriage. He was a member of Kenduskeag Union Church, where he began attending in 1947 and was a faithful member till his passing. Lloyd was involved in leadership roles and social activities, including Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Sunday school and youth groups. Lloyd loved children. He also held the position of town constable in Kenduskeag for several years. Lloyd was a hard worker and would take on any job available to provide for his wife and children. Later on he would settle into sales. His job in sales took him to many, many towns throughout the state, where he developed lots of lasting relationships with his vendors. It seemed that no matter where he went even after retirement someone would recognize him and begin to joyfully reminisce about life. Lloyd and his wife, Eunice, also drove from Maine to California twice visiting friends and family as they traveled. Lloyd loved any form of competition whether it be a simple card or board game to baseball, softball, bowling and golf. His two favorite activities later in life were ten pin bowling and golf. Both of which he was very good at. He rolled one of the first perfect 300 games in the Bangor area,and achieved not only one but two holes-in-one on the golf course. Lloyd was a prolific storyteller and jokester. Friends and family loved to listen to him as he drew them into his story and joke time ambiance. Even if they had heard the story or joke before it was still refreshingly delightful. Lloyd was loved by all and will be missed by all who knew him.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife, Eunice; one son, Mark W. Ames; and two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by two sons, Bruce Ames and his wife, Susan, of Kenduskeag and Peter Ames of Levant; one brother, Douglas Ames and his wife, Brenda, of Ohio; three sisters, Ann Lenz, Louine Sullivan and Nancy Campbell, all of Corinth; and many nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters. The most significant and cherished memory of Lloyd will always be that he was our father and faithful dad. We love you dad! - Bruce and Pete.

A celebration of life service will be held at Kenduskeag Union Church on June 5 at 4 p.m. There will be a time of food and fellowship in the fellowship room immediately following the service.
