Linda Ann (Chandlee) DeFroscia, 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family December 25, 2025, at a local hospital. She was born February 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Benjamin and Mary (Burns) Chandlee.
Linda grew up in Philadelphia. In her youth, she enjoyed spending her summers on the Jersey Shore. She graduated from West Chester State College, with a Bachelor of Education. During her time in college, she met her future husband, David DeFroscia Sr. and they were married shortly after in 1964.
In 1971 David took a position as a history professor at the University of Maine, Orono. He and Linda settled the family in Bangor, where they raised two sons, David Jr. and Benjamin. Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by Mary's second husband, Joseph Comber, who lovingly filled the role of father and grandfather; her husband of 39 years, David Defroscia Sr.; and sister, Jean Renn and her husband, David. She is survived by her children, David DeFroscia Jr. and his wife, Charline, and Benjamin DeFroscia and his wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Tyler, Lindsey, and Ramona and William DeFroscia; a special niece, Mary Jo Johnson; and special friends, Harry Schoenberg and Kate Collins.
The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to a special friend, Marsha Shute for her years of care and friendship.
A private graveside service will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, in the spring. Those who wish to remember Linda in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
