Searsport - SEARSPORT - Lewis E. Seekins, 76, died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born April 5, 1936, the son of Eugene and Margaret (Ward) Seekins.

Lewis had a great love for his family - his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very important to him. He enjoyed all the family times that he was able to spend and create cherished memories. Lewis owned and operated L.E. Seekins Construction for many years. Lewis served in the Army National Guard, and he was past master of Belfast Masonic Lodge, Scottish and York Rites. Lewis was also a member of Anah Temple Shrine, where he served in the Medic Corps. Lewis was a licensed plumbing inspector for the town of Searsport for 25 years; he also served on the appeals board and was a past member of the planning board for the town of Searsport, along with holding a state of Maine real estate license.

Lewis will be sadly missed by his surviving and loving wife of 56 years, Mary L. (Hersom) Seekins; and four daughters, Diane Curtis and husband, Barrett, of Searsport, Karen Seekins of Searsport, Lori Heath and husband, Matthew, of Orland and Sandi Sanborn and husband, Johnny, of Benton. Lewis had 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special friends, Jim and Joyce Richards of Belfast; seven brothers and sisters, many, many nieces and nephews. In addition to Lewis' parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Leroy Seekins; and one son-in-law, Chuck Ellsmore.

Family and friends will gather for visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport, where a Masonic memorial service will be held 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Searsport Full Gospel Church, Main Street, Searsport, with Pastor Cliff Gall.
