Lauretta
Eddington - Lauretta "Tootie" Mary Merrill, 79, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 8, 2020. She was born August 26, 1940 in Belfast, the daughter of Earland Everett Esancy and Marguerite (Carter) Esancy.
Lauretta attended Gardiner High School. She married Frank Roland Merrill Jr. on July 24, 1958 and they made Eddington their home for the last 50 years. During her earlier years she enjoyed candle pin bowling in Brewer and square dancing in Dedham with her husband. Relaxing and watching the hummingbirds from her living room gave her much comfort and pleasure.
Tootie was a member of the Eastern Maine Snowmobile Club and was an avid snowmobile and ATV rider. She also enjoyed riding the many "toys" they had throughout the years. Tootie and her devoted husband, Frankie of 61 years enjoyed extensive motorcycle excursions across the United States. She also loved spending countless hours at her brother's camp, where many fond memories were made. She was always asking "When are we going to camp?". Her love for family, friends, and gatherings at camp was remarkable. Lauretta found great happiness in being with those she loved. She adored her grandson and was always so very proud of him. She cherished spending time with him, especially at camp. He filled her heart with laughter and joy.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Frank Roland Merrill Jr.; are a daughter, Brenda Merrill and her partner, Marie Roney, of Eddington; two sons, Terry Merrill and his wife, Lynda, of Brunswick, and their family, Michael Merrill and his wife Vickie, of Woolwich; grandson, Shaun Merrill, of Woolwich; brother, Everett Esancy and his wife, Vicki, of Richmond; sister, Gail Chapman and her husband, Bruce, of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Lauretta in a special way may make gifts in her memory to the Brewer Veterinary Clinic, P.O. Box 3250 Brewer, Maine, 04412.
