Hampden - Laurence H. Morse died peacefully November 4, 2019, in his home, surrounded by family and friends. He was born August 13, 1926 in Carmel, the son of Roy S. and Leola E. (Mitchell) Morse.
Larry graduated from Carmel High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944. He served our country with honor and pride. Upon his return Larry began his lifelong career as a mechanic and later as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 4. Larry was a former member of the Archon Lodge #75 A.F. & A.M. of East Dixmont.
He met the love of his life, Charlene. They married in 1950 and spent the next 63 years making memories with their families and friends and playing countless games of cribbage before Charlene passed in 2013.
Larry enjoyed racing as a young man and faithfully watched as many NASCAR car and truck races as he could. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering in his garage refurbishing John Deere Tractors or a Model T, chatting with friends, watching his grandchildren in their many activities, camping and of course flying.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his wife, Charlene (McSorley) Morse; his brothers, Sumner, Charles, Leon, and Phillip; his sister, Jacqueline (Morse) Faulkner; and a son-in-law, Jon Thomas "JT" Misner. Surviving him are his daughters, Marsha Burr and husband, Richard of Carmel, Renae Morse Misner of Waterville; sisters-in-law, Brenda (Boynton) McCown and partner, Edward Lord, of Howland, Joyce Morse of Searsport, and Glennis McSorley; grandchildren, Michael Burr and wife, Kari-Ann of Carmel, Marcie (Burr) Barbarula and husband, Brad of Mapleton, Morgan Burr and partner, Adam Frost of Amherst, Benjamin Misner and fiancée, Emily Cote of Augusta, Alexander Misner of Waterville; and great grandsons, Waylon Burr, and Elliott Misner. Larry was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and close family friends, Sheila and Tommy Torrey, and Janet Lawrence.
A celebration of life will be held 12 noon, Friday, November 8, 2019, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor, with Rev. Mark Tanner, Pastor of the Skowhegan Federation Church, officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11am until time of service, Friday. Interment with military honors will be in Highland Cemetery, Carmel, immediately following the service, Friday.

Where do I start. Larry, Charlene, Renae and Marsha are special people. My first meeting of Larry was at work, construction of Seabrook Station in NH. We both were working for the tunnel contractor and both of us took to each other even though there were a couple of years difference in age. It was winter, Larry was staying on the beach in a little drafty place and I told him to pack up and come home to our house, live with us while working at the job. Larry would go home to family every weekend and we had a great time when he was here and when we could, would visit Larry & Charlene or he would come down after Seabrook was done. Larry was a sound sleeper so I guess he was content sleeping with us. 1 heavy wet snow we had 2 pine trees come down on the house, middle of the night and puncture the roof over Larry's bedroom! He never heard a thing. We went to fly ins together like Greenville Maine seaplane and enjoyed hanger flying (slang for shooting the bull about airplanes) . With a big tear in my eye, Bernice and I will miss Larry and I know his daughters and big family will too.. Larry was a great guy, they just don't make em like that anymore! VicRead more

Marsha, Renee & family, Erich & I are so sorry for your loss. Larry was such a wonderful person. He was always upbeat & fun to be around. I know you will miss him terribly, but he will live in your hearts & memories. Larry was my Dad's favorite cousin. I remember all the times we visited you all at your home when we were growing up. I remember you all at our family reunions too. Keep your Dad & Mom close in your hearts, as I'm sure you will.
