Kitty (Mason) Lyn Graham Obituary

Bangor, Maine - Kitty Lyn Graham, 75, passed away peacefully at home in Bangor, Maine, on February 10, 2026, with her loving husband by her side. Born on January 11, 1951, in Akron, Ohio, Kitty was the beloved daughter of the late Beverley J. Mason. She spent her formative years in Bridgeport, Connecticut, before moving to Maine, where she became a cornerstone of the Bangor community for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul C. Graham; her sisters, Linda Snow-Kurczewski and Kimberly Vansaw; and her brothers, David Mason, Dana Burt Mason, and Keith Mason. She is also survived by her children: eldest son, Jeffrey P. Roman and his wife, Becky; daughter Jennifer J. Graham-Gagnon and her husband, Tony; daughter, Kelley J. Hart and her husband, Mike; son, Jamie A. Graham and his wife, Paula Camire; and son, Andrew L. Graham and his wife, Michelle; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-nieces and great-nephews. Kitty was predeceased by her mother, Beverley J. Mason; her brothers, James Brett Mason, Adam Mason, and William Rodney Mason Smith; and her dearest friend, Connie (Linderbeck) Vining.

Kitty was defined by a deep sense of compassion, connection and caring. These indelible traits made her a most nurturing mother figure not only to her own five children but also to her many nieces, and nephews. She especially cherished her close relationships with her nieces and nephew, Ashley, Carlie, and Blair Mason, all 3 of whom she was deeply honored to have helped raise. Additionally, she was bonded to her honorary niece and nephew, Michelle and Ricky Vining, the children of her aforementioned lifelong best friend and soulmate, Connie Vining, with whose soul hers is surely now reunited.

A well-respected nurse in the Bangor area for more than three decades, Kitty began her career at EMMC working with cancer patients and later served as Dr. Thornton Merriam's office nurse. Her commitment to outreach led her to work with Dr. Farquhar on the Rural Pediatrics Team. Drawing from her own life experiences, Kitty provided compassionate care at St. Andre's Group Home and Garland House, supporting unwed mothers and at-risk young women. Kitty finished her nursing career in a role that would prove helpful as well as heartbreaking, as a charge nurse at Westgate Manor, where she cared for those with cognitive decline (including her mother), in the years preceding her own personal battle with dementia.

Beyond her professional career in nursing, Kitty was a passionate advocate and local leader for peace and justice. Her activism was foundational to her sense of self and community; she helped found the Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine, where she proudly served as director for several years.

The loss of Kitty's presence here on earth is felt acutely by not only her family of origin and the family she created but also by the family she chose for herself, her close friends and community members, in whose memories she will continue to live far beyond her time here with all of us.

If you'd like to share your memories of a loving life well-lived, please join us for her celebration of life which will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at The Bangor Masonic Center, located on the former Bangor Theological Seminary campus at 294 Union St., Bangor, ME 04401.
