Brewer, Maine - Kenneth H. Whitney, 79, husband of Bonnie (Sargent) Whitney, passed August 27, 2026, at his home. He was born June 16, 1947, in Bridgton, the son of Harry F. and Esther L. (Bell) Whitney.

Ken graduated from Mt. View High School and he served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He later graduated from the University of Maine and worked in sales for many years in the paper products industry. He enjoyed his retirement job, delivery auto parts for Darling's in Bangor. Ken spent much time fishing, snowmobiling, traveling with many campers and he and Bonnie wintered in Florida for 11 years. Ken was also a member of the Ralph Pollard Lodge #217, AF & AM, Orrington, the Anah Temple Shrine, and the Anah Kampers.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Brewer; was the father of three children, Lori Barnes and her husband, Brian, Scott Thompson and his wife, Cindy, and Mark Whitney; three grandchildren, Kasey Hewey, and Taylor and Ryan Thompson; a sister, Jean Raven and her husband, Darryl; and nieces and nephews.

Ken's family gratefully thanks the staff of Beacon Hospice for all their love and support, especially Danielle, Stephanie, and Jenni.

Family and friends may visit 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2026, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a service honoring his life and military service will be held at 2 p.m. A reception will be immediately afterward at Jeff's Catering beginning at 3 p.m. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial gifts to My Friends Place, 703 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04401 or at myfriendsplaceprogram.org, an organization that was very meaningful to Ken and Bonnie.
