Medway, Maine - Kenneth D. LaPorte Sr., 72, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born October 29, 1949, in Millinocket, the son of Kenneth and Velma (Mattall) LaPorte.

Ken grew up in Medway, and served in the Army as well as the National Guard. He worked for 39 years as an electrician at the Great Northern Paper Company before retiring. Ken was a Master Mason and Past Master of Pine Tree Lodge #172 A.F. & A.M. in Mattawamkeag, was a lifetime member of the DAV, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a very humble man and very proud of his family. He loved sitting on his front porch watching birds and people. Other pastimes he enjoyed included watching football, working crossword puzzles, and reading Randall Probert books - which his daughter, Marie, kept him in supply of. Ken also loved attending Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Music festivals. Family gatherings were very important to Ken, and he was well known for preparing the best smoked ribs. He will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by his family and all who knew him.

Ken is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan A. (Burleigh) LaPorte; three children, Kenneth D. Laporte Jr. and his wife, Diane, Marie LaPorte and Kenny Knapp, and Jay LaPorte and Julie Voisine; twelve grandchildren, Jesse and his wife, Jamie, Alyssa LaPorte, Kara Newbert, Ryan Pepin, Kooper LaPorte, Lilly LaPorte, Josie LaPorte, McKenna LaPorte, Josh St. Amand, and Andrew St. Amand; eight great-grandchildren, Jason, Jessi Lynn, Michael, Gabriel, Grayson, Dawson, Everette, and Jade; siblings, Elaine Scott, Gene LaPorte, Mike LaPorte, and Karen Deckert; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by a brother, Richard LaPorte.

Graveside services, with Military Honors and masonic participation, will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Grindstone Cemetery in Medway. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket. Messages of condolence may be expressed at Ken's Book of Memories at lamsonfh.com.
